OVERVIEW
Conroy’s Farm is located in South East Galway at the foot of the Sliabh Aughty Mountains and the shores of Lough Derg. The farm is ideally situated, just one hour’s drive from Athlone, Galway and Limerick.
The holding originally acquired in 1965 has now expanded and developed its operation into 400 acres. This consists of a range of different parcels comprising of lowland and commonage with an extensive range of animal housing and business activity.
Today the farm is farmed by the second and third generations of the family. Within the farmyard there are a range of Agri-based businesses set up by different family members which include Conroy Livestock, Conroy Agri Supplies, Twilight Blaze Zwartbles, Conroy Farm Tours and Konfect Artisan Bakery.
On the farm we have a selection of Beef Enterprises, predominately dry stock. In 2014 we started calf rearing. Since then, we have developed onsite facilities to accommodate that, currently rearing 800 calves annually. In conjunction with this Conroy Livestock actively trades in cattle, supplying them to farmers throughout Ireland.
Our Sheep Enterprise is focused on breeding pedigree Zwartbles, registered and non-registered. We specialise in producing sheep suitable for outdoor livestock shows and for sale. We sell to other breeders and start up flocks throughout Ireland. We also supply some of our commercial Zwartbles to the hospitality sector.
Within the Farm Enterprise we retail veterinary and Agri-based products to the farming sector. Conroy’s “Delivering for farmers” was set up by the family in 2016, providing a service to farmers in many counties throughout Ireland, and in turn providing employment to a substantial number of people in the local area.
Konfect Artisan Bakery is an onsite licenced premises, providing a wide variety of sweet treats, homemade breads and desserts. Konfect supplies the local market and actively sells online throughout Ireland.
At Conroy’s we would love the opportunity to show you the full range of activity on our farm.
EDUCATIONAL TOURS
Our farm tours are open to students in second and third level education to facilitate learning for both practical and project development. Students get to see a hands-on experience during the tour with an opportunity to get a feel for the labour involved in running the farm.
Our aim is to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that promote the sustainability and safety of agricultural resources. Students are encouraged to ask questions about the farm which we hope will benefit them in their studies.
Conroy Farm Tours has an array of farming and business activity to experience for all visitors. Here at Conroy’s our goal is to ensure you have an enjoyable experience with us and you leave with a good level of knowledge and understanding of everyday farming life.
